FBLA role play practice with an AI judge

Get a new scenario for your event, prepare for 20 minutes, then talk it through with a judge who plays the person in the scenario. You get a score on the rating sheet categories and the fixes worth the most points.

How does an FBLA role play practice round work?

  1. Pick your role play event. Marketing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business and the rest.
  2. Read the scenario and the rating sheet rows you’ll be scored on.
  3. Prepare for 20 minutes on the clock. In competition you get two notecards and no props or outside materials, so practice the same way.
  4. Present for 7 minutes. The judge plays the client, manager or customer in your scenario and can ask questions as you go, like FBLA judges.
  5. See your score on every rating sheet row, with notes from your own answer and a model answer to compare.

What do FBLA role play judges score?

The 2026-27 role play rating sheet is worth 100 points:

CategoryPoints
Understands the role play and defines the problem10
Identifies alternatives and their pros and cons20
Identifies a logical solution and how to carry it out20
Shows knowledge of the event’s topic areas20
Delivery: organized, clear statements10
Confidence, body language, eye contact and voice10
Answers questions effectively10

Half the points (alternatives, solution and topic knowledge) reward analysis, so a role play that only restates the problem can’t score well. Source: FBLA’s 2026-27 role play event guidelines.

Questions

Is this an official FBLA role play?

No. CompPrep AI isn’t affiliated with FBLA, and every scenario is original. FBLA’s guidelines and sample role plays are on fbla.org and in FBLA’s help center.

How long is an FBLA role play?

You get 20 minutes to prepare and 7 minutes to present, with a one-minute warning for each. Judges may ask questions while you present; there’s no separate question period.

Does the objective test still matter?

Yes. The top 15 teams on the objective test move on to the role play. After that, only role play scores decide the winners, and test scores break ties. CompPrep has practice tests for every role play event’s test.

Can my team practice together?

Yes. FBLA role play teams have 1 to 3 members, and team practice takes up to 3 names, so the judge can turn to each of you.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan includes one AI judge session a day and two full practice exams a week. Pro raises those limits, and a chapter plan gives every member Pro.
